Installation of the 2005-2008 Nissan Titan Tonneau Covers (with Utili-Track system):
Your installation is a "NO-DRILL" installation. The Nissan Titan Tonneau Cover requires no drilling and just a couple of simple hand tools to install.
This is the standard installation for a Utili-Track system on your Nissan Titan.
If your Nissan Titan Tonneau Cover came with the rubber bulb seal in the box and not attached, install that first.
1. We'll start by learning how to insert the "spring nuts" into the utilitrack. Push the spring nuts into the utilitrack as shown below:
All pictures can be enlarged by clicking them
They should somewhat 'snap' into place. After they have been inserted, you can move them by pushing in slightly and sliding them to their proper locations.
2. Attaching the front "female" hinges:
Two spring nuts per side are needed. The spring nuts are located approx 1 1/2" and 4 1/2" from the ends of the front rail shown in the picture below. (Note-the dimensions given are to the edge of the spring nuts, not the center!)
The picture above is for the driver's side of your Nissan Titan. Do the same for the passenger side.
3. Attach the front female hinges with the 1" bolts and washers. Make sure the female hinge is pushed down to sit flush with the top of the front rail.
4. Measure between the slots and compare that measurement to the distance between the male hinges on the tonneau cover. You may need to widen or narrow the male hinges on the tonneau cover to get them to fit in the slots. Make sure the bolts are tight. (Double check the distance between the slots and compare to the male hinges!)
5. The rear brackets are installed in much the same way. You don't need to
measure anything, just make sure you are using the correct holes on the bracket
(red arrows) and that it is 'butted up" to the rear of the side utilitrack
(green arrows).
Leave the nuts (yellow arrows) on the strike loose- we'll adjust them later. You may need to slide the spring nuts around until they match up with the holes. Make sure you tighten the bolts!
6. Now the fun part:
You're almost done!
Get another person to help you and lift the tonneau cover onto the truck, making sure the male hinges go into the slots on the female hinge:
7. Attach the gas props. They just snap on to the 'ball studs'. (Tip: the thick end is always 'up' this allows the oil in the barrel to keep the shaft lubricated)
8. With the tailgate open, close the tonneau cover and adjust the strike (red arrow) up or down so that the locking rods go underneath it when you lock it.
9. The locking rods can be adjusted in or out using an 1/8" allen wrench:
10. That's it!
Try it out. We've slotted a most of the brackets so you can adjust most things, if necessary.
